COMMUNITY

BUILDER

As an effective driver of community and cultural change, I create dynamic programming and systems that engage, educate and expand the current zeitgeist. What is the status quo? What's the new standard? How do we get from A to B while keeping the needs of internal team members and external audiences equally top of mind? This is where my passions and skill set lie.

For more than a decade, I've nurtured community, both online and offline, in my work as a journalist, entrepreneur, and initiator.

AFFINITY GROUPS

The above designs represent a tool kit that I conceived and implemented to communication actions plan and galvanize community. Vice Community organized internal experiences that fostered pride in the workplace with affinity groups like LGBTQ+, POC, Family, and Women, while expanding on Vice’s compelling legacy in storytelling through:

• Cultural talks

• Social events

• Professional panels

COMMUNITY BUILDING

As Director of Community, I also produce opportunities to build community around important social causes that are aligned with the company’s values. For the topic of youth incarceration, Vice, along with actor/activist Michael Kenneth Williams, partnered with NYC Together, a Brooklyn-based nonprofit that empowers youth and police to work together to strengthen their communities. I organized:

  • A screening of Michael Kenneth Williams's VICE on HBO Special Report Raised In The System

  • A dialogue led by Michael Kenneth Williams about America's juvenile justice system with members of the New York Police Department and youth from the communities they serve

  • A Q&A for community guests and Vice employees
