EDUCATION
My foundation in journalism is an important catalyst for the social change I choose to create in this world. A skill set in digital media is an important toolkit in empowering others to use their voice. Creating educational opportunities for others is important to my work.
Movement Makers was an extracurricular high school pilot program created with educator Veronica Benavides in New York City. Benavides and I wanted to make an impact on the Mexican student population in New York City so we created a class to teach the value of leadership through digital media skills, Latino literature, ethnic studies, and history.
The workshop was conceived as an innovative crash course in new media journalism, dedicated to young writers 18 and older. I spearheaded and launched the 12-week virtual workshop to get first-hand on knowledge from leading Vice editors.
